Zoe’s Kitchen: Vegan Options in Bearden and Turkey Creek

IMG_5704.JPG

Fast casual chain Zoë’s Kitchen offers a range of simple, fresh Mediterranean-inspired meals—and, luckily for us, more than a few vegan options. Everything is made from whole foods and cooked with healthy fats like olive oil, and seasonings are simple and herb-driven rather than salty and fake.

My history with Zoë’s starts years ago, with a takeout tub of hummus at a friend’s house. It was topped with olives and drizzled with olive oil, and at the time, I was super impressed by that. (Quick note—the hummus pictured to the right is just the side size. I have no idea what possessed me not to get the full size.)

For a long time, I thought about Zoë’s as the take out place with the swanky hummus, but when I started working at an office a few minutes from Turkey Creek, I rediscovered it as a great spot for vegan-friendly business lunches.

Many vegetable kabobs later, I got an email from Nicole, their area catering manager. She had come across Knox Vegan and wanted to chat about how they could reach out to local vegans. She kicked me a gift card so I could make sure I had sampled everything and take some nice pictures, and now here we are!

  • Power Grain Bowl (sub another sauce for tzatziki)
  • Cauliflower Rice Bowl (without feta or tzatziki)
  • Mediterranean Salad Trio Bowl (without tzatziki or feta)
  • Live Med Salad (without parmesan)
  • Quinoa Salad (without feta)
  • Greek Salad (without feta)

If you’re looking for recommendations, I tend to go with the veggie kabobs and get the braised white beans and the potato salad as the sides. But by all means, ask for your potato salad grilled! It’s awesome.

Zoë’s Kitchen has two locations in Knoxville: one on Bearden hill at 6638 Kingston Pike, and the other in Turkey Creek at 11378 Parkside Dr. #2510 (near the Pinnacle theater, across from Smoky Mountain Brewery and next to Chipotle).
